Possum removal
Possums are protected native wildlife in Victoria, so this is not a job for poison or relocation. We are licensed to trap them, and the rules require a trapped possum to be released on the same property, within 50 metres of where it was caught, after sunset that same day. That means trapping alone fixes nothing. The real fix is finding the hole in the roof, fitting a one-way door, then sealing it properly.
What is included
- Roof and eave inspection to find every entry point
- One-way exit door fitted so the possum can leave but not return
- Cage trapping by a licensed operator only where it is needed
- Release on your property after sunset, as the rules require
- Entry points sealed with metal flashing or heavy mesh
- Photos of the entry points before and after
How we do it
Confirm it is a possum
Timing, sound and droppings tell us. Rats and birds get treated very differently, so we check first.
Find the entry
Usually a lifted tile, a loose eave lining or a gap where two rooflines meet. We photograph each one.
Let it out
A one-way door goes on the main hole. The possum leaves to feed at dusk and cannot get back in.
Seal the roof
Once the roof is quiet for a few nights we remove the door and seal the hole for good.
Signs you need this
- Heavy thumping across the ceiling just after dusk and before dawn
- Hissing, coughing or growling sounds from the roof or a tree
- A yellow-brown stain spreading on the ceiling, with a strong smell
- A lifted tile or broken eave lining near an overhanging branch
- Large droppings on the path below the roofline
Seen something? Get it identified first.
Book an inspection and you will know what it is, how it is getting in and what it costs to fix before any treatment starts.
