Fault call-out
$140
first half hour on site
- An A-Grade electrician at your door
- Repair priced before we carry it out
- Photos of what was found
Then $35 per 15 minutes. Parts are listed on the invoice.
Fenwright is a small crew of A-Grade electricians based in Preston. Ring and an electrician answers, tells you what it is likely to cost and books a time. Urgent faults are seen the same day on weekdays.
No power or a burning smell after hours? The phone is answered until 9 pm for urgent faults.
Burning smell or sparks? Keep away from the switchboard and call us. If there is a fire, call 000.
You get the price in writing before we start. It only changes if you ask us to do more.
A Certificate of Electrical Safety is issued for our work, as Energy Safe Victoria requires.
We photograph the fault or the old board, so you can see what was wrong and what we did about it.
Our workmanship is warranted in writing for 12 months. Parts carry the maker's own warranty.
What we do
Six jobs that make up nearly all of our week. Each one has a starting price and a page that explains what is involved.
Old fuses out, circuit breakers and safety switches in, with every circuit tested and labelled.
Tripping switches, dead power points and flickering lights traced to the cause and repaired.
Extra power points where you need them, LED downlights, outdoor lights and ceiling fans.
Safety switches added to unprotected circuits, and hard-wired smoke alarms fitted or replaced.
A wall charger on its own circuit, sized to what your house supply can actually deliver.
The two-yearly electrical safety check Victorian rentals need, with a written report for your records.
How it works
Four steps, and you know the price before the second one is finished.
Tell us what is happening and where. A photo of the front of your switchboard helps a lot.
For most jobs we can give a price or a price range on the phone. Faults start with the call-out fee.
An A-Grade electrician arrives in the booked window, confirms the price on site, then gets on with it.
We test the work, show you the photos, and send the Certificate of Electrical Safety with the invoice.

From customers
Safety switch kept tripping every night around 2 am. They traced it to the defrost heater in the garage fridge in about forty minutes and charged the call-out only. No talk of a new switchboard.
Had the old fuse board replaced before we moved in. Power was back on by 3 and every switch is labelled, even the one for the shed. Certificate turned up by email a few days later.
I manage two rentals for my mum and had no idea the checks were due. They sorted the times with both tenants and sent a report for each. One smoke alarm was past its date and they replaced it on the spot for the quoted price.
Questions
Straight answers on cost, timing, licences and what happens on the day.
A fault call-out is $140 including GST, which covers travel and the first half hour on site. After that it is $35 per 15 minutes until the fault is found. Once we know the cause you get a price for the repair before we do it. Planned work such as power points, lights and switchboards is quoted as one fixed price, so there is no call-out fee on top.
For a fault, ring before 2 pm on a weekday and we will be there the same day. Saturday mornings we take urgent calls as they come. Planned jobs such as new power points or a safety check are usually booked within the week. A switchboard upgrade or an EV charger is typically one to two weeks out, because we check the supply and order parts first.
Yes, for anything we can see or measure before we start: power points, lighting, safety switches, smoke alarms, switchboards, chargers and rental checks. The price is in writing and it is what you pay unless you ask us to add something. Fault finding is the exception. Nobody knows the cause yet, so the search is charged by time and the repair is then priced before we do it.
Yes. The work is carried out by A-Grade electricians and Fenwright Electrical is a Registered Electrical Contractor in Victoria. We hold public liability insurance. Registration details and a certificate of currency are available on request before we start, and you are welcome to ask for them.

What we tell customers at the front door, written down. Nothing here asks you to touch wiring.
A tripping safety switch is doing its job. Here is how to work out what set it off without touching any wiring, and the point where you stop and ring an electrician.
