How we work
A few things we do on every job
-
Price agreed first
You get one written figure before we start. It only changes if you ask us to do more.
-
Sized for the room
We measure the room and check the insulation and glass before we recommend a unit.
-
Licensed for refrigerant
Our technicians hold ARCtick refrigerant handling licences. A licensed electrician does the wiring.
-
Warranty in writing
Five years on our installation workmanship, on paper, alongside the manufacturer's warranty.

Four steps from first message to a cool room
No pressure and no surprises. You know the price and the plan before anyone picks up a drill.
-
Tell us about the room
Send the room size, what is there now and a photo of the outside wall. A rough idea is fine.
-
We visit and measure
We check the insulation, the windows, the switchboard and where the outdoor unit can sit quietly.
-
You get a written price
One figure covering the unit, the install and the electrical work. Nothing starts until you say yes.
-
Installed and explained
We fit it, test it, clean up and walk you through the remote. You pay when you are happy with the job.

From customers
What people said after we left
-
They talked us out of the bigger unit the last bloke quoted. The 2.5 in our bedroom is plenty and I can barely hear it. Outdoor unit went down the side, away from the neighbours.
Marco, Reservoir
-
Our lounge unit smelled like wet socks every time it started. After the clean the smell was gone and the airflow was noticeably stronger. They showed me photos of the fan before and after.
Shreya, Preston
-
Unit was dripping onto the carpet. Turned out to be a blocked drain, not the expensive fault I was dreading. Fixed on the first visit for the price they told me on the phone.
Helen, Heidelberg
Common questions
Questions we are asked before a booking
Straight answers on price, timing, licences and warranty. If yours is not here, ask and we will tell you.
How much does a split system cost installed?
A typical 2.5 kW bedroom unit is about $1,890 supplied and installed, and a larger living room unit usually lands between $2,600 and $3,400. That covers the unit, a standard back to back install and the electrical connection. Long pipe runs, a second storey or a switchboard upgrade add to it, and we price those in writing before you decide.
How soon can you install or come out?
Installs are usually booked about a week out, and service or repair visits within a few working days. Summer is different. In a heatwave week we fill up fast, so if hot weather is forecast it pays to get in touch a few days ahead. We will always give you an honest date.
Do I need a site visit before you quote?
For a rough figure, no. Send us the room size and a photo of the outside wall and we can give you a range the same business day. For a firm price, yes. Insulation, ceiling height, west-facing glass and the state of your switchboard all change the right size and the cost, and we would rather see them than guess.
Which suburbs do you cover?
We are based in Reservoir and work in Preston, Thornbury, Northcote, Coburg, Heidelberg and Rosanna. If you are just outside those suburbs, ask anyway. We keep the area small so that we can turn up when we said we would and come back quickly if you need us.

Advice
Things worth knowing about your air conditioner
Short, practical notes from the van. What you can safely check yourself, and when to switch it off and call.
-
How to clean your split system filters, and why it matters
It takes ten minutes, costs nothing, and is the one piece of maintenance you should be doing yourself. Here is how to do it without breaking anything.
-
What size air conditioner a room actually needs
Bigger is not better. An oversized unit costs more to buy, cools unevenly and leaves the room clammy. Here is how the right size is worked out.
-
Why the indoor unit is dripping water inside
Water running down the wall under a split system has three usual causes. One you can check yourself. The other two mean turn it off and call.
Tell us about the room and we will size it.
Send a few details and we will reply the same business day with a rough price and a time to visit.
