What we do
Tile roof restoration
Terracotta and concrete tiles outlast the mortar that holds the ridge caps on. When that mortar cracks, the caps work loose and rain blows in under them. Restoration means lifting the caps, laying new bedding, repointing with a flexible compound and swapping out broken tiles. We do not sell roof painting as a cure for leaks. A coat of paint does not hold a ridge cap on.
What is included
- Ridge and hip caps lifted, rebedded and set back in line
- Flexible pointing that moves with the roof in heat and cold
- Broken and cracked tiles replaced with matching second-hand tiles
- Valleys and gutters cleared of old mortar and debris
- Before and after photos of the work that ends up hidden
- 5 year written warranty on workmanship
How we do it
- 01Inspect and count
We check every ridge, hip and valley and count the broken tiles, so the quote covers the whole roof.
- 02Fixed price in writing
The quote names the job, a repoint only or a full rebed, and explains why.
- 03Rebed and repoint
Caps come off, old mortar is cleaned away, new bedding goes down and the caps are pointed.
- 04Clean up and photos
Gutters are cleared, the yard is swept, and you get photos of the finished ridges.
Signs you need this
- Cracks or gaps in the mortar under the ridge caps
- Lumps of grey mortar in the gutters or on the path
- Ridge caps that sit crooked or have slid out of line
- Several broken or slipped tiles visible from the ground
- A ceiling stain directly below a ridge or hip
