What we do
Flashing, valleys, skylights
Most leaks we find are not in the open roof at all. They are at the joins: where a chimney comes through, where a valley carries water between two slopes, or around a skylight. Lead and steel flashings crack, lift and rust, and old valleys fill with leaf litter and corrode underneath. We replace or re-dress the flashing, fit new valley irons and reflash skylights properly.
What is included
- Chimney, wall and vent pipe flashings replaced or re-dressed
- Rusted valley irons replaced and the tiles recut to suit
- Skylights reflashed, or replaced if the frame has failed
- Old sealant and patch repairs stripped back first
- Photos of the old and new metalwork
- Compliance certificate for work valued at $750 or more
How we do it
- 01Trace the leak to the join
We lift the tiles or sheets beside the flashing to see where the water is getting past it.
- 02Agree the price
You get photos of the failed metal and one fixed price to replace it.
- 03Replace the metal
New flashing or valley iron goes in, lapped and fixed the right way, and the tiles go back.
- 04Water test
Where we can, we run a hose over the repair before we leave to check it holds.
Signs you need this
- A stain on the ceiling or wall beside a chimney
- Drips around a skylight frame in wind-driven rain
- Rust streaks or leaf build-up in the valley between two slopes
- Blobs of old silicone or tar around a flashing
- A leak that only shows up when the wind is from one direction
