Home batteries
A battery stores the solar you would otherwise export and lets you use it after dark. Feed-in rates in Victoria are now very low, so keeping your own power is worth far more than selling it. That still does not make a battery right for every house. We look at how much spare solar you have, especially in winter, and how much you use at night. If the numbers do not stack up, we will say so.
What is included
- A check of your spare solar and night use from your bills or smart meter data
- A battery from the Clean Energy Council approved products list
- Installation in a suitable spot, away from living areas and exits
- Blackout backup for chosen circuits, if you want it and the battery supports it
- A check for any battery incentive you may be eligible for, and help with the forms
- App set up so you can see charge, use and export
Signs you need this
- Your solar exports most of what it makes while nobody is home
- Most of your power use is in the evening and early morning
- You want some circuits to keep running in a blackout
- You are adding an electric car or replacing gas appliances with electric ones
How we do it
Store your spare daytime solar and use it at night, if the sums work for your house.
- 01
Usage check
We look at how much solar you export on a normal day and how much power you buy in the evening.
- 02
Honest recommendation
You get a size, a fixed price and an estimated payback. If a battery is a poor fit, we tell you plainly.
- 03
Installation
Most batteries are fitted in a day, usually on a garage or side wall, then tested before we go.
- 04
Handover
We set the battery's operating mode with you and show you how to read the app.
